With over 25 years of teaching experience, Dr. Stevens' students have won dozens of prizes in competitions at the national, state, and local levels. His students have gone on to successful conservatory and university studies. Lessons with Mark explore the technique, interpretation, and expressive tools required to achieve a specific composer's sound. Repertoire is a vehicle to a larger contextual understanding of style and interpretation. In this way, students become partners in their own musical development, equipped with the tools necessary to grow on their own as musicians.

Mark’s approach to accepting new students is simple. If you are interested in piano, curious about music, and excited to grow and improve every single week, there is a space for you in the studio.

Mark teaches beginning piano students as young as age 5. His unique approach mixes traditional method books with technique, improvisation, and supplemental materials. Students gain a strong understanding of music's building blocks while developing skills that help them far exceed the pace of traditional methods, transitioning into the wonderful and diverse world of piano music. Students explore a variety of composers and genres, tailored to each student's interests.
